Chinese auto manufacturer SAIC Maxus, a subsidiary of SAIC Motor, carried out a test drive on Changbai Mountain for its landmark pickup vehicle – T60, on Feb 22.

The test included driving on winding roads, washboard roads as well as mountain climbing, during which T60 displayed excellent performance in comparison to D-MAX – a pickup made by Japanese auto manufacturer Isuzu.

The T60 takes design inspiration from the strength, power, and grace of that of a “bull” in western mythology.

Safety is a vital part of driving on snow and ice. T60 adopts both active and passive safety systems to avoid any potential problems. On one hand, the vehicle uses thermoforming technology to improve the strength of its steel plates. On the other hand, six air bags in the auto offer drivers full protection. Apart from an advanced active safety system, T60 is equipped with LED lights for its Adaptive Front Lighting System. Moreover, a string of safety configurations, including the Around View Monitor (AVM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Driver Fatigue Monitor System, ensures T60 drivers have comprehensive protection in extreme road conditions.

A snow-and-ice-driving test gives a best interpretation of a vehicle’s stability. Running along the winding snow and ice road of Changbai Mountain created a great challenge for T60. The secret of T60’s success lies in its integration of graded steel springs and four-wheel drive. The graded steel springs feature Lexus’s PLV vibration damping technology and adjustment of North American pickup chassis expert Cameron Kurth to achieve a perfect combination of both easy and comfortable driving.

Meanwhile, the smart driving system same with Land Rover, AAM drive axle, Eaton automatic differential lock and Shanghai GKN Drive Shaft Co’s transmission shaft make up T60’s golden combination of drives.

The T60 also highlights stability with BOSCH 9.0 Electronic Stability Program (ESP).

In addition, the T60 is excellent in dynamic performance, equipped with advanced 2.8T VM turbo diesel engines, featuring 110 KW of power and a maximum 360 NM of torque. Its drag capacity of 3.5 tons can help vehicles out of danger.
